Five for Matoušek as Czechs win in Dresden

The Czech Lions took an impressive two-wicket victory in Dresden off the back of a strong team bowling performance, highlighted by debutant Oliver Matoušek's 5-14.

Dresden were playing their strongest team, with a weekend off from the German league, although the always-impressive Srini was unavailable. Pace bowler Ali struggled gamely through despite carrying a knock and took 5-30, including three in one over as the Lions stuttered in chasing their target of 109

But Suditha Udugalage led the way with 35, and Rahul Subash (23) helped to steady the ship after an early burst had left the Lions reeling on 31-4.

It was left to Honza to hit the winning runs, with the target chased down in just over half of the allotted time.

Honza had been a large part of a great fielding effort for the Lions, taking three catches as Dresden struggled to score off the Czech bowling. Rohit took 2-14 and there were wickets also for Rahul and Rajh, plus a great run-out when Vojta removed Ali for a duck with a direct hit.
