The Českomoravský kriketový svaz (ČMKS) is proud to announce the following 11-man squad for the upcoming 40-over friendly match between Dresden CC and the Czech Lions, which will take place at Sportspark Ostragehege in Dresden on Saturday 23rd August:
Vojta Haša (captain)
Mik Starý (wk)
Hilal Ahmad (4yr)
Rohit Deshmoyni (4yr)
Unavailable players: Saša Cook, Luki Fencl, Damian Kyselý, Manjeet Malik, Scott Page, Ben Souček
The match is unofficial, but selectors Haša, Dan Casey and Craig Hampson have elected to select teams as close to fully eligible as possible at all times. In this instance, this exact team could play an official ICC match tomorrow if required, with all the unavailable players being fully quailified too. We feel this gives a good indication of the depth of quality we are now seeing, and there are also a number of local talents ready to battle with Ahmad and Deshmoyni for the two 4yr spots.
The match will mark 20-year-old bowler Matoušek's full debut for the Lions team. All other players have represented the Lions previously.
Dresden are free of German league commitments on the weekend in question, so they are planning to give us a stiff test with their strongest possible team.
After this match, the Lions' season culminates in a 4-team tournament in Prague against Luxembourg, Poland and Switzerland on 5-7 September.
